How Long Does It Take To Blow Up As A Type Beat Producer?

We went through the upload history of 5,733 type beat channels. Here's how many beats it took to get one past 10k views, and what it means if you haven't yet.

Every producer wants to know the same thing: how many beats until one actually pops? Most answers out there are guesses, or one person's story. So we counted.

We went through the full public upload history of 5,733 type beat channels. That's every channel with at least 10 type beats among the producers Beatoptic tracks. For each one, we found the first type beat that went on to pass 1k, 10k, 100k and 1 million views, and which beat number it was.

The short answer

For producers who started in 2022 or later, the ones who got a beat past 10k views got there on their 15th type beat, about 53 days after their first upload. That's the middle of the pack: half got there sooner, half took longer.

But only 42% of those channels have gotten a beat past 10k at all.

How far producers get

Across all 5,733 channels:

The ones who hit a million got there on their 107th type beat, about a year and a half after they started.

More beats help, but not the way you think

How much a channel has uploaded lines up closely with whether it ever got a beat past 10k:

Part of that is obvious. Producers who got an early hit kept going, and a lot of producers who didn't, quit. But it also means 10 or 20 beats isn't a real test. Most producers who make it don't make it that early.

And even the producers who did get a 10k beat don't hit often. For half of them, 4% or less of their type beats passed 10k. That's about 1 in 25. A big beat is rare even for the people who are winning.

What if you're 50 beats in and nothing hit?

This is the one that matters if you're grinding right now. Among channels that started in 2022 or later and have uploaded 100+ type beats:

So if you're at beat 50 with nothing past 10k, about 1 in 3 producers in your spot still broke through later. That's not hopeless. But 2 out of 3 didn't, and uploading another 50 beats the same way is how you end up in that group.

Our take: change the target, not just the volume

Upload counts can't tell us why some producers broke through after beat 50 and others never did. But if you're past 50 with nothing, the fix usually isn't more of the same. It's a different target: an artist people actually search type beats for, where the top results aren't already held by big channels.

A beat for an artist with real searches and room at the top has a shot on day one. A beat for an artist where the first page is all 500k-subscriber channels can be great and still sit at 40 views.

The fine print

We want these numbers to be useful, so here's what they can and can't tell you:

See it for any producer

Our Chrome extension shows this for any type beat channel on YouTube. Open a producer's channel and the Producer check shows which upload first passed 1k, 10k, 100k and 1M views, and how long it took them (the blow-up history is part of Pro). Add it to Chrome for free.

And if you want your next beat to have a better shot, Beatoptic shows you which artists have real demand and room for a small channel, before you make the beat.
