1. What beatoptic is
beatoptic is a market intelligence tool for beat producers. It uses YouTube Data API Services and the Last.fm API to surface artist and market data. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data we collect
- ·Account information — your email address and encrypted password, provided at signup.
- ·YouTube channel data — your channel name, handle, subscriber count, total views, and video metadata. This is fetched via the YouTube Data API and stored to power your dashboard.
- ·Usage data — the artists you search, your onboarding preferences, and scan history. This is used to generate your niche analysis and niche health score.
- ·Competitor data — YouTube channel URLs you voluntarily add during onboarding or in settings.
- ·Billing information — if you subscribe to Pro, your plan, subscription status, renewal and trial dates, and whether a payment method is on file. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us (see Payments below).
3. YouTube API Services
beatoptic uses the YouTube Data API Services. By using beatoptic, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. We access YouTube data solely to provide the features described in this app and do not store or redistribute YouTube content beyond what is necessary to operate beatoptic.
Google's privacy policy applies to data obtained through YouTube API Services. You can review it at policies.google.com/privacy.
You may revoke beatoptic's access to your Google account data at any time via the Google security settings page.
4. Last.fm
beatoptic uses the Last.fm API to discover similar artists and listener data. This data is used solely to generate your artist niche analysis. We do not store personal Last.fm account data.
5. Payments
Payments for Pro are handled by Stripe. When you subscribe or add a card, you enter your payment details on a page run by Stripe, and Stripe stores them. We never receive or store your full card number. We keep a Stripe customer ID and your subscription details (plan, status, renewal and trial dates, and whether a card is on file) so we know whether your account has Pro.
For some purchases, Link, a Stripe company, acts as the reseller and merchant of record and processes the payment and any sales tax. The checkout page tells you when that applies. Stripe's handling of your payment information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy, and Link's by the Link Privacy Policy.
6. Chrome extension
The beatoptic Chrome extension works without an account. It only does anything on YouTube search results and channel pages (www.youtube.com), in YouTube Studio's upload and edit dialogs (studio.youtube.com), and in its own toolbar popup.
- ·What it reads — the text of a YouTube search for a type beat, the video title you are typing in YouTube Studio, or the ID, handle and name of the YouTube channel page you are viewing. On a channel page it also looks at the video titles shown, only inside your browser, to tell whether it is a type beat channel; those titles are not sent. It does not read your watch history, your videos, or any other site.
- ·What it sends — that search text, title or channel is sent to beatoptic.com so we can find the artist or producer and return the verdict, title check or channel card. Nothing is sent for searches or titles that don't mention a type beat.
- ·Install ID — on install the extension creates a random ID and keeps it in the extension's own storage. It is not linked to your name or email. We use it to count how many people use the extension.
- ·What we log — with that ID, we record each verdict, title check or channel card shown (with the search text, title or channel and the artist), producer scans, and when you click a link to beatoptic, close the strip, or copy a suggested title or tags. If you click through to beatoptic while signed in, or have connected your account, those events are linked to your account.
- ·Connecting your account (optional) — if you choose "Connect Beatoptic" and approve it while signed in, the extension stores a random access key that links it to your account, so it can show your upload plan and Pro features. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the key. Disconnect any time in Settings.
- ·Upload plan (connected accounts) — the upload days you pick in the popup are saved to your account. To count this week's uploads, we check the recent public uploads of the YouTube channel you connected on beatoptic. Upload-day reminders are optional: the reminder time stays in your browser, and Chrome's notification permission is asked for only when you turn reminders on.
- ·IP address — like any website, beatoptic.com sees the IP address of each request from the extension. We keep it for a few minutes, only to limit how many requests one address can make, and don't use it to locate you.
- ·We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties.
Removing the extension deletes the install ID from your browser. To have the data logged under it deleted, email us at the address in the Contact section.
7. How we use your data
- ·To provide and operate beatoptic — generating your niche analysis, niche health score, and artist intelligence.
- ·To improve the product — understanding how features are used to make better decisions.
- ·We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- ·We do not use your data for advertising.
8. Communications
By creating an account, you agree that we may email you at the address you signed up with for:
- ·Transactional messages — account confirmation, password resets, and security notices.
- ·Billing messages — for example, a reminder before a free month ends or a notice that a payment failed. Stripe may also email you receipts for your payments.
- ·Product communications — updates to beatoptic, tips on using it, and occasional requests for feedback or testimonials about your experience.
You can opt out of product communications at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of those emails, or by contacting us at privacy@beatoptic.com. Transactional and billing emails needed to run your account cannot be opted out of while your account remains active.
9. Data storage
Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.
10. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
beatoptic, and the third-party providers we rely on to run it, may store, access, or collect information directly or indirectly on or from your device or browser — including by placing, accessing, or recognizing cookies, browser local storage, and similar technologies.
- ·Authentication and session management — Supabase, our authentication and database provider, uses cookies to keep you signed in between visits and to verify your identity on each request. Without these, you would need to log in again on every page load.
- ·Core functionality — we use local storage and similar technologies to remember basic app state, such as onboarding progress, so the product behaves as expected as you navigate it.
- ·Measuring the landing-page search — when you use the artist search on our homepage, we set a first-party cookie containing a random ID so we can count searches and unique visitors, and, if you later create an account, link those searches to it to understand how people find beatoptic. It contains no personal information and is not shared with third parties.
- ·Hosting and security — Vercel, our hosting provider, may set cookies or similar technologies as part of serving beatoptic and protecting it from abuse.
- ·Payments — Stripe's checkout and billing pages, which you visit only when you subscribe or manage your card, set their own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud, under Stripe's privacy policy.
beatoptic does not currently use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, and we do not run third-party analytics or tracking scripts. If that changes, we will update this policy.
You can control or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or remove them on a per-site or global basis. If you disable cookies or local storage for beatoptic, core functionality — including staying logged in — may not work correctly.
